We are looking for a Lead Data Visualization Analyst to join the Data team on the digital side of

the tronc business. This team’s mission is to provide data, insights, and products to serve the

broad set of digital properties owned by tronc including brands like the LA Times, Chicago

Tribune, New York Daily News, Baltimore Sun, and 150 other publications with around 75

million unique visitors every month.


This role will provide a critical interface between the data teams at tronc and a wide variety of

data consumers at all levels of the organization. This role will work closely with our analytics,

data engineering, and data science teams to model business domains as useful information

architectures and design and build user-centric dashboards built on these models.

The ideal candidate will have a thoughtful approach to data modeling and dashboard design,

the technical ability to explore data and find insights in a large data warehouse, build

dashboards directly, and the desire to mentor and grow other members of the analytics teams.


  • Interact with technical and non-technical people around the company to understand their data needs
  • Create information architectures designed to solve key business problems
  • Produce high quality dashboards that address key business questions
  • Help create and encourage consistent dashboarding and data presentations across multiple teams in the company
  • Be the expert in data visualization, data storytelling, and user-centric dashboard design
  • Mentor more junior members of the analytics teams in SQL, Tableau, user centered design, and data storytelling


  • 5+ years working in analytics / business intelligence
  • 2+ years’ experience in a leadership or mentoring role in analytics
  • Experience in either media, ad-tech, or customer acquisition and retention on web-sites
  • Proven ability to create dashboards that demonstrate user-centric design
  • Proficient in Tableau or other similar data visualization tool
  • Familiarity with data modeling and creating data architectures to solve business problems
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
