Overview

This crucial agency-like account role located in New York will be responsible for ensuring flawless communications between tronc's central Consumer Marketing team and tronc’s New York-based properties including the New York Daily News and the Daily Meal. The ideal candidate has a marketing agency background, digital marketing skills, a strong service orientation, events marketing experience, and superb communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all consumer marketing campaigns for the New York Daily News including digital subscriptions, events, product marketing and branding
  • Regularly interface with New York-based tronc colleagues to strategize about their promotional calendar and collect creative project requirements
  • Set up kick-off meetings, creative review sessions and manage creative approval process
  • Write creative briefs on behalf of local “clients,” solicit their approvals, then brief Creative team on those needs
  • Quarterback urgent requests overseeing request for work, gathering team, monitorng and updating on output and placement
  • Present marketing plans and ideas from the central Marketing team to local co-workers, and conversely communicate local market needs back to the central digital marketing team
  • Serve as a one-stop-shop for questions from the market, either answering directly or coordinating the provision of an answer, on topics related to digital marketing and operations
  • Convene regular strategy sessions between assigned market and the central Marketing team
  • Ensure shared understanding between central marketers and the local market of the available budgets and goals and ensure actual spending is meeting targeted levels, and help explain variances
  • Project-manage market-specific campaigns and projects that involve marketing resources
  • Become expert in audience insights and brand guidelines for local clients and inform campaigns
  • Communicate and suggest marketing tests that help optimize assigned properties’ go-to-market propositions and customer funnels

Qualifications

 

  • BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • 8 plus years’ experience at a marketing agency, in an Account Management-like role, especially working with clients who conduct digital marketing
  • Knowledge of digital acquisition and marketing best practices, to fuel productive conversations with client-markets as well as with fellow marketers in our central team
  • Significant problem-solving, communication and organizing skills
  • Product and project management experience with the determination and ability to drive a project from concept to launch through multiple departments
